Tennessee Theater on Gay Street

Picture of Tennessee Theater located on Gay Street in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee
Downtown Landmarks - When it opened in 1928, the Tennessee Theatre was hailed as "the South's most beautiful theatre" and for generations, it has been a central part of downtown Knoxville. Closing on June 1, 2003, the historic theatre underwent a $25.5 million renovation and restoration project. The doors reopened on January 15, 2005 as a world class performing arts center and is one of the jewels of Knoxville.

Honored as the Official State Theatre of Tennessee, "Knoxville's Grand Entertainment Palace" has something for everyone: classical music, vintage films, dance, theater, and stellar performances by today's hottest musicians.
