TVA Windmill Farm
On Buffalo Mountain just outside of Knoxville,
near Oak Ridge and Oliver Springs, TN

With a gentle "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh," the graceful blades of 18 windmills at the Tennessee Valley Authority's expanded wind farm are now producing enough clean electricity to power to 3,000 homes. The Buffalo Mountain Wind Park located near Oak Ridge, Tennessee, just outside of Knoxville, provides the first commercial-scale use of wind power to generate electricity in the southeastern United States.
